Dauphin to Host Manitoba Curling Tour Championships

Aug 12, 2015

The Manitoba Curling Tour (MCT) presented by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has announced that the annual MCT Mens and Womens Championships will be played in Dauphin on the weekend of December 11-13, 2015.

Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy and the Dauphin Curling Club, along with the clubs loyal bonspiel partners, will be major supporters of the championship weekend.
The decision to host the MCT Championship event in Dauphin has been made in tandem with the organizing committee of the long-standing Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy Cash Spiel. That annual event will not run in 2015 as organizers consider the future of the event.
For a couple of years, we have been discussing the future and especially the timing of the bonspiel, says Bonspiel Chair Ray Baker. We initiated the discussion about hosting the MCT Championships as a way of maintaining a significant competitive curling presence in Dauphin while we consider future direction for the bonspiel.
Both the bonspiel committee and Manitoba Curling Tour are delighted with the decision of Dauphin Clinic Pharmacys Myles Haverluck to continue a significant sponsorship contribution in support of the Dauphin Curling Clubs efforts to present championship calibre curling in the community.
We are pleased to be able to help the Dauphin Curling Club host the top Manitoba Curling Tour teams again this winter, says Haverluck. It is a privilege for us to be involved with the major expansion of our previous efforts by bringing the top-ranked Manitoba women curlers to Dauphin for the first time along with the competitive men.
The Manitoba Curling Tour Championships presented by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will feature 16 mens teams and a dozen womens teams playing triple-knockout bonspiel format competitions. The invitation list is based on the seasons team rankings developed over the MCT season involving cash bonspiels across the province as well as CurlManitobas competitive qualifying events.
The championships represent the final event of the MCT season. The winner, or highest finishing eligible team, in each of the mens and womens events will earn an invitation to compete in CurlManitobas provincial championships. The highest ranking teams, after the championships, will also earn provincial champion invitations.
